Albreda, Gambia

Albreda is small historic town along the north bank of the Gambia River. The village is best known for it's Museum of Slavery in the Maurel Freres building. It includes relics of the slave trade and a permanent exhibition titled, "Voyage of No return-The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and the Senegambia." There are also World Heritage sites to be visited including the Ruins of San Domingo a trading post in the 15th Century, and The Compagnie Francaise d'Afrique Occidentale Building- a remnant of the French occupation. The town also features excellent shops and craft markets.
